Krka is famous for its numerous lakes and waterfalls. It got its name by the river Krka which is part of the park. The National Park is located in central Dalmatia. It covers the area along the river Krka, which runs at the foot of the Dinara mountain near Knin, runs through a 75 km long canyon, flows through Prokljansko lake and affects the bay of Sibenik. It extends over 109 square kilometers, of which 25.6 square kilometers make up the water surface. River Krka today has 7 sedge waterfalls and its beauty represents a natural karst phenomenon.
